LifeMoves operates over 15 major sites from San Jose to Daly City.Position Summary: LifeMoves and Operations-Food Services are seeking experienced individuals for the position of Food Service Supervisor to perform a variety of work, which may include plan, organize, reviews and evaluates all coordination of food required for the day-to-day operation and special events at each site. The Food Service Supervisor will oversee the role of Food Service Staff within the organization; to ensure their teams' success and participate more actively in daily food service operations.This position will cross train with food service operations and will assist with other operational functions as needed. Duties may include but are not limited to the following
Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of staff who prepare, portion and serve foodPrepares, cooks, and dispenses food and serves as lead cook on a shiftEstimate and order ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation.Prepare food order summaries for Lead Cook according to requests from Nutritionist/Dietitian Participate in menu planning to support the dietary intake and special meal accommodations of clients Act as a liaison between food service coordinators and community partners/volunteers to create a structured meal plan for clients dailyImplement composting practices within the organization to minimize food wasteCreate a healthy environment by serving clients during meal service to develop a better relationship with foodOversee sourced food from local food banks, donors including corporations, restaurants, and faith-based groups.Survey and collect feedback from staff & clients regarding the quality of meals.Maintain compliance with local food banks, VA and other health agency related inspections. Complete monthly reporting of activities for the Second Harvest Food Bank and other partners.Other Duties
Support and maintain the cleanliness of the site including pantries, refrigerators, freezers, and warehouseMaintain kitchen equipment and manage ticketing system utilizing FMX Assist with supplies and deliveries including signing for, bringing in, and/or storing items.Encourage clients to make use of programs like CalFresh, Snap, WIC to access food.Assure the proper care and maintenance of vehicle.Contribute to the food service team by cross training for all positions. Attend and participate in trainings; and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities. Participate in general staff meetings, 1:1's and other meetings and events planned by the Food Services Manager and Wellness ManagerQualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Two years of experience in an institutional or commercial kitchen, which has included the preparing and serving of food, and the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Food Service Manager ServSafe Certification Proficient or two years' experience in management
- Professional experience in food service or nutrition related field
- Computer skills and overall tech-savviness.
- Excellent leadership skills in customer service
- Effective time management strategies
- Must be able to pass background check
- Experience as an effective team player
- Ability to lift 30 pounds safely and keep up with the physical demands of the job
