Job Title: Food Service Worker Tier 1Reports to: Kitchen Manager or Operations ManagerLocation: Bronx, New YorkSalary Range: $35,000 - $35,000FLSA Status: Non-ExemptSummary:We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to join our dynamic team at NAICA. The Food Service Worker will play a crucial role in executing daily food handling tasks, collaborating closely with the facility's Food Handling Manager to ensure seamless operations aligned with long-term facility goals and compliance with federal, state, and city regulations.Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:The Food Service Worker will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Preparing, inspecting, and distributing food and beverages for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Managing both unpackaged and packaged food items and beverages.
- Preparing and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area during and after meals, including walls and tables.
- Receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries of food, beverages, supplies, and related items.
- Adhering to proper hygiene and sanitation practices while handling food.
- Keeping the food preparation and cooking areas, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, steam tables, warmers, and pantry, clean, neat, and orderly.
- Ensuring proper storage and care of food items and supplies.
- Following established procedures for food disposal and waste management.
- Assisting in compliance with city, state, and federal building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Universal Precautions.
- Attending and actively participating in facility and other meetings as scheduled.
- Maintaining personal appearance, hygiene, and adherence to uniform policies and standards.
- Safely and efficiently operating kitchen, cleaning, and mechanical equipment in the facility.
- Skillfully navigating, resolving, and mitigating issues that may arise within the facility.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
- May be required to work shifts, including evenings or night tours and/or Saturdays, Sundays and holidays with holiday pay differential.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard hours or on weekends if required.
- Physical fitness for frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and extended walking.
- Ability to perform heavy work, including lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds and frequently carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
Professional and Personal Qualifications:
- NYC/NYS Food Handler Certificate required.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Certification preferred.
- Ability to operate kitchen, cleaning, and mechanical equipment, tools, and materials used in the facility.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
- Knowledge and experience in interacting with individuals with psychiatric diagnoses preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficiency.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
- Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
- This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
