Job Description

The Food Service Supervisor is an integral position within the Sheriff's Office. This position is responsible for supervising cooks and/or inmates in the preparation of food and the coordination of kitchen activities.

Essential Duties

* Supervising staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff/inmates are trained; ensuring that employees/inmates follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

* Overseeing the daily operations of a food service area and assists with the cooking and preparation of food

* Developing and preparing reports relating to costs or expenses for training and other operating activities

* Monitoring inventory of supplies and orders supplies as necessary

* Ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

* Overseeing the maintenance and operation of food service equipment

* Performing other duties of a similar nature or level

Other Job Requirements/Information

* This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.

* This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and fingerprinting.

* This position may require 24 on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour and rotating shifts.

Grade

The grade for this position is B211.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

$3,600 hiring incentive for new hires

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED

* Three years of experience as a cook

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered

* Food Services training certificate must be obtained within 12 months of employment

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
