Job Summary

The Varsity Assistant Coach supports the head coach in managing the high school varsity team. They play a key role in developing athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive and competitive environment. This position requires a combination of teaching, mentoring, and administrative duties to ensure the success of the team both on and off the field. Responsibilities: Assist the head coach in planning and conducting effective practices and game strategies. Provide individual and group instruction to athletes to develop skills and techniques specific to the sport. Monitor athletes' academic and personal development, ensuring compliance with school and athletic program policies. Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork among student-athletes. Collaborate with the head coach to manage game-day logistics, including equipment, schedules, and communication with players and staff. Maintain open communication with parents, school administration, and other stakeholders. Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during practices, games, and travel. Support recruitment efforts for future athletes and assist with program growth and development.

Satisfactory evaluation by school principal, athletic director or other administrator, and/or appropriate letter of recommendation from current or most recent coaching position held. Must have current TB clearance; Valid CPR/First Aid and Coaching certificate and background check. Certification: Prior coaching experience. In lieu of coaching experience at least three (3) years of experience participation in a collegiate varsity level program (Junior College accepted). In either event, proof of same. Other: CIF required training courses. Please be sure you are up to date on courses as they expire after 2 years. Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion in Sports, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, Heat Acclimatization Course, The Collapsed Athlete TB Screening Results: TB Test taken in the past 2 years.
