As a Forest Technician, you will engage with foresters and assist in the collection of forest data for stand analysis, cruising/marking timber, marking timbersale boundaries, and other sustainable forest management activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is situated within the Clear Creek Forest District and is classified as a technical position in the field of forestry. The primary responsibilities associated with this role involve executing a range of technical forestry tasks, providing support that fosters sustainable forest management and stewardship practices, applicable to both State Forest Lands and privately owned forest areas. Other duties include forest fire fighting, outreach and education, forest health monitoring, wildlife habitat projects, and other related tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal full-time employment without benefits; 37.5 hours per week.
- The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work hours:
- Week 1: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday
- Week 2: 7:00 AM to 4:15 PM, Tuesday - Friday; OFF Monday
- This position may require travel and overtime as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate's degree in forest technology; or
- Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
