Job Title: ForgerDepartment: 1018 - ForgingLocation: High Bridge, NJ SummaryThis position plays a vital role in providing specialized services for the company, involving the forging and forming of parts and materials to engineered specifications. The responsibilities encompass the operation of various equipment such as presses, ovens, manipulators, and forklifts.Responsibilities Understand and adhere to all safety rules in the department.Read and comprehend the router.Familiarity with the forging process, including set up and production, for all forging jobs in the shop.Prepare materials for the forging process under supervision or independently.Start up and shut down furnaces, check and adjust furnace during heat treat process.Create a map of pieces in the furnace and operate all furnace doors in the Forge Shop.Operate all manipulators in the Forge Shop under supervision or independently.Handle heavy-duty lift trucks equipped with forks or a manipulator.Set up the press with proper tooling, set up thermocouples under supervision or independently.Demonstrate clear communication with the manipulator operator.Cross Forging under supervision or independently.Interpret prints and operate both 3000 Ton & 6000 Ton Presses.Identify potential press issues and alert maintenance.Train others in different processes and techniques, e.g., set up and production of close die work, large OD mandrel work, forming fittings.Communicate all aspects of CAC forging to third-party inspectors.Schedule workflow in the forging area and batch furnaces for maximum usage.QualificationsDemonstrate competency in assigned in-service training.Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.Ability to solve practical problems.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.Detail-oriented.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).2 years of related experience/training may be substituted.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
