Fork Lift Operator - Experienced - IOWA WOOD PRESERVERS : Job Details

Job Description Job Description We are searching for an experienced, seated forklift operator to move and organize lumber around our yard. Loads are 8-10,000lbs and in bulk lumber with lengths from 8 to 24 feet. You will be operating a seated forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and care for our product. This is an all-weather, year-round, outside role. Your job would involve driving around our concrete yard, in/out of storage buildings and other facilities. You would load semi trucks and unload rail cars of our bulk lumber in 8ft-24ft lengths. You must be a responsible individual with experience in driving industrial forklifts. The goal will be to ensure that the lumber will be in the right place with safety and quality in mind to achieve maximum efficiency. We are first-shift only company. We currently run 7am-3:30pm, with overtime after 40 hrs. This is a full-time position M-F work week, no weekends required. No 2nd or 3rd shifts. Responsibilities Unload materials from incoming trucks and/or rail cars and stack them to assigned places. (expected skill forklift experience and efficiency.) Locate lumber on the yard and move materials to storage or for shipment (expected skill - attention to detail. Example: 2x8x10 unit versus a 2x10x8 unit) Safely load and unload, stacking to height of mast reach. (expected skill follow OSHA 10hr guidelines) Daily inspection and recordkeeping on lift machine, reporting the need for repairs. Responsible for changing lift tires Log accurate tallies of incoming and outgoing material (expected skill counting/math to record accurate units received or shipping) Comply with company policies and legal guidelines Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities Skills / Credentials Proven experience as forklift operator (at least 3 years desired on resume) Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment Flexibility to help in various areas involving forklifts Valid driver's license High school diploma or equivalent Company Description We specialize in the pressure treatment of wood to provide quality builder-grade lumber that is long lasting, safe, and most cost effective to other building materials such as wood composite, aluminum, steel, or concrete.
