Job Description
Our Livonia Service Center is hiring a 3rd shift Forklift Operator, an essential position in the supply chain. If you have 2+ years forklift experience in an industrial setting, have a strong work ethic and are looking for a long-term career, a Forklift position with CHEP could be a great fit!
$18/hr + $1/hr differential for working 3rd shift
3rd shift - Monday-Friday, 9pm-5:30am

As a Forklift Operator with a strong emphasis on safety, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to supply and retrieve pallets or materials from various departments within the plant. Your role involves making decisions to optimize material movement and contribute to the overall efficiency of the plant operations. Additionally, you may be required to perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating and replacing liquefied-gas tanks on the forklift.
Major/Key AccountabilitiesMaterial Handling & Forklift Operation:Operate the forklift to efficiently move pallets, containers, and materials throughout the plant facility.
Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus. Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets and transports load to designated area.
Conduct inspection of the forklift prior to operating, promptly reporting issues to maintenance team for resolution.
Assist in loading and unloading trucks or containers with pallets or materials using the forklift, ensuring proper placement and securement of items.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery.
Maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the work area
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment daily
Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
Proven experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures relevant to forklift operations
Valid Forklift Operator certification/license preferred
Lift and carry up to 75lbs
Push items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.
Pull items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.
The role involves working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Work requires operator to sit for long periods of time.
Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures may occur.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
