We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.JOB SUMMARYThe Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) to assist with material handling, shipping, receiving and other activities. The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Work safely and help maintain a safe work environmentResponsible for loading trucks with the proper tile color and profile, in a timely manner.Responsible for unloading inner-company transfer trucks, as well as assistance with unloading other shipment materials, in a timely manner.Responsible for properly completing all shipping and receiving documents. Recording pick sheets/slip changes with product loaded.Assistance in maintaining accurate inventory levels; Documenting all scrap materialInvolved in Yearly/Monthly inventory counting/reconciliation.Loader is responsible for reviewing all product loads to assure product being shipped meets quality Westlake specificationResponsible for following all safety and environmental protection rules and procedures.Must present him/herself in a professional manner to internal/external customers, at all times.Adhere to all housekeeping rules and procedures for yard and forklift.Responsible for completing Forklift Check Sheet, daily.Perform other duties as directedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESSort, stage & load pallets and related material in a safe manner following Westlake Forklift Safe Operation guidelines and policiesAssist in inventory management of pallets to ensure production operations continue without interruptionRequired to operate a sit-down forklift and/or electric pallet jack in a safe and efficient mannerAble to effectively work within a diverse team environment and be productive while unsupervisedBasic Computer skillsMust be able to read and interpret documents such as shipping/receiving informationAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formSome minor pallet repairsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEThe employee should have the following:High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant fieldESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee should possess the ability to:Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortableWithstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or outsideProlonged standing or in stationary positionComplete repetitive movementsBend and/or twistLift/move/transport items up to 50 poundsAbility to move or traverse about the facilitiesAbility to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditionsWear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)Must be able to work split shift (to train off shifts on safety concerns and changes)Clarity of hearing and speechMust be able to climb, balance or smellThis is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
