By integrating with their model gateway, you can send metrics to improve models over time-making them smarter, faster, and more cost-effective.The Role:As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building the entire backend and systems software from scratch, directly working with the two co-founders. You'll focus on optimizing system performance, evaluating and refining architecture, and implementing observability tools to ensure reliability. You'll also handle key integrations, connecting backend systems with third-party services and APIs. Taking full ownership of the backend in Rust, you'll leverage its performance and safety features to create a scalable, maintainable, and high-performing system. As one of the first technical hires, your work will have a direct impact on the company's growth and technical direction.Your Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience building backend systems from scratch with a high degree of ownership over technical direction and deliverables, ideally in a startup environment.
- Deep proficiency in Rust, including its use for building high-performance, scalable backend systems and services.
- Knowledge and experience in working with ClickHouse for data storage, processing, and optimization.
- Active contributions to open-source projects, demonstrating a collaborative mindset and technical expertise.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts, architecture, and best practices for building highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
- Solid experience with relational or NoSQL databases, and performance optimization techniques in backend systems.
- Strong ability to integrate backend systems with other services, APIs, and third-party tools.
- Understanding or experience with infrastructure for deploying and scaling machine learning models in production.
- Familiarity with container orchestration and deployment using Kubernetes for scalable backend infrastructure.
- Ability to work closely with co-founders, providing input on architectural decisions and contributing to strategic technical initiatives.
