Freelance User Experience Designer - Barbarian : Job Details

Barbarian is looking for a Freelance User Experience Designer to create intuitive, meaningful experiences for our clients. Our ideal candidate is someone with a passion for UX who is able to grasp user needs and solve problems.

What You Do:

• Define target users and problems
• Research competitive products, industry trends and topics.
• Convert complex problems into simple and elegant solutions
• Gather, analyze and determine how to respond to feedback from external clients and internal directors
• Create detailed experience maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes etc. based on briefs from client-facing teams
• Articulate intended experience through design artifacts in critiques and presentations.
• Quickly iterate and offer explorations of potential solutions based on design critique from peers or from learnings found in user testing or feature response
• Defend design choices using previous user research, heuristics and usability standards
• Communicate designs and prototypes to developers with a proper handoff
• Present design ideas clearly and effectively with the proper rationale
• Proactively identify opportunities for new executions, efficiencies, and designs

What You Need:

• 2+ years of UX design experience
• A strong online portfolio of work demonstrating design processes in creating user-centered design solutions
• Ambition to produce the best in class work
• Excellent verbal and written skills to be able to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Expert in Figma
• Familiarity with Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
• Aptitude to learn new design tools
• Ability to communicate with dev teams to understand technical constraints and opportunities
• Responsive design, web design experience
• Relentless attention to detail and a sharp eye for design
• A passion for all things digital
• A collaborative, open + honest, curious and human mindset
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience working in an flexible and fast paced environment
• Exists on the cutting edge of UX design – and pushes our user research, testing, and design infrastructure and practices.

Location: remote

Rate range: $500-$1000/day

The starting rate will match the skills and experience in the role assessed during the interview process.
