Coordinates the delivery of the freshest and highest quality product at a competitive retail price. Responsibilities include managing orders, vendor relationships, inventory control, merchandising, training and supervising employees. Ensures that customer's needs are met. Reporting Relations:Accountable and Reports To: District Store Director; Store ManagerPositions that Report to you: Fresh Foods Clerks; Service ManagersPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a positive attitude; creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
  • Generates a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers; providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers and sets a good example.
  • Smiles and greets all customers in a friendly manner.
  • Assists the store manager in overseeing the store and acts on issues in the absence of the manager.
  • Key holder with opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and ensures proper training and continuous education of all employees and specifically direct report employees, handles employee issues, and coordinates disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local health and food safety regulations for the store.
  • Provides leadership in actively pursuing sales goals with increased sales and profitability.
  • Coordinates the actual physical inventory for the store, verifies the accuracy of the information and puts together the P & L as requested by the store director.
  • Coordinates and monitors perpetual inventory ensuring to meet monthly and quarterly inventory goals.
  • Monitors inventory for discontinued products while also determining products to discontinue.
  • Cycle counts all departments responsible for to meet percentage of completion goals and reviews discrepancies.
  • Creating and applying batches.
  • Operates and maintains basic functions of the AD Program.
  • Monitoring RPM Reports and basic RPM functions.
  • Maintains items and price file.
  • Reviews orders for accuracy and approves order to be sent and completed.
  • Assists in coordinating all product recall events.
  • Determines location of ad and promotional displays, ensures product quality and quantities to meet customer and store demands and profitability.
  • Meets with sales reps and determines new items, special purchases, and determines prices and merchandises the product.
  • Designs and constructs displays while also setting displays based on planogram for in-store execution of merchandising.
  • Checks in product, puts product away, and review invoices.
  • Labels all product containers in the backroom and in storage areas with date store received them.
  • Unloads trucks, places product in appropriate storage areas and replenishes and stocks product.
  • Reviews the status and appearance of the food for freshness and prepares, finishes, and replenishes and rotates product while facing merchandise.
  • Ensures an adequate product supply is ready and on hand and develops or follows a production list.
  • Trains and enforces safety procedures to provide a safe and healthy work environment for employees and customers and fills out customer accident forms.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries, fills out first report of injury, and assigns light duty as necessary.
  • Oversees building/ground maintenance and all store sanitation and cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, removal of trash, cleaning bathrooms and common areas to ensure they meet with the store director's guidelines.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Completes required in-store department training, on-line training, and testing.
  • Responsible for checking of competitors pricing as requested by store director.
  • Stays current with market trends and information (i.e.; competition, new products, equipment, and merchandising techniques).
  • Responsible for and attends companywide events, special store events, store meetings as directed and is involved in community activities.
  • Provides continuous education for existing store employees regarding new and updated company and store policies, procedures, and job duties.
  • Recruits, interviews, selects, orientates, and trains new employees.
  • Performs other job related duties, assists in all areas of the store as needed and assists with special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Must have the ability to use logical or scientific thinking to solve problems and several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have the ability to do arithmetic, Algebraic and Geometric calculations.
  • Must be able to report, write, or edit articles for publication; prepare and deliver presentations; interview, counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data.
Education and Experience:
  • High School or equivalent experience.
  • One or more years of retail management experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to physically perform light work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • The following physical activities are necessary to perform this job: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:This position is exposed to dust, noise, and temperature extremes. There are possible equipment movement hazards; electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.Equipment Used to Perform Job:Pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, knives, department power equipment, trash compactor, cardboard baler, fork lift, computer, calculator, telephone, FAX machine, two wheeler, register computer, delivery vehicle, ordering machine.Financial Responsibility:Authorized to purchase merchandise and supplies and order repairs on equipment.Contacts:Has daily contact with customers, employees, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.
