The Bowery Mission (TBM) exists to promote the flourishing of New Yorkers who are overcoming homelessness and marginalization by providing compassionate services and transformative community. Choose Help (CH) Programs are positioned as a first point of contact for all entering TBM Bowery Campus to experience the transformational love of Jesus Christ as demonstrated in practical actions.The Front Desk Coordinator (FDC) will serve as first point of contact and a resource of support for guests, residents, staff, volunteers, vendors, and visitors of the Bowery Campus. The FDC will provide a welcoming, hospitable, and peaceful environment that affirms compassionate care and individual dignity, while supporting an exceptional standard of professionalism, customer service, safety, and cleanliness in the environment. The FDC will operate efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment as they receive and properly direct incoming phone calls, conduct outgoing phone calls as necessary to support crisis intervention, and de-escalate conflict to promote a calm atmosphere. In collaboration with the Development Department, the FDC will monitor email inquiries addressed to [email protected] providing responses or forwarding the email to the appropriate department.The FDC will receive and coordinate distribution of deliveries, including incoming/outgoing mail to ensure all packages and correspondence is distributed to appropriate campus departments/staff. The FDC will receive incoming donations/in-kind gifts, provide donors with a correct receipt, and ensure all contributions are properly distributed to campus departments/staff.The FDC will organize, maintain, and properly distribute administrative documentation pertaining to community resources and interdisciplinary campus operations as appropriate. The FDC will properly organize and maintain files pertaining to TBM health and safety protocols, fire safety regulations, interdisciplinary program operations, and complete program reports as necessary. The FDC will attend training as necessary to maintain required certifications, improve job performance, and to obtain desired professional development.Work Schedule: Shift: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM (Saturday/Sunday Off)Reports to: Manager, Community LifeDuties & Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Welcome and direct guests, answer inquiries, address complaints, register visitors and volunteers, handle phone calls and emails, support crisis intervention
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain organization at front desk and lobby, manage key control, handle deliveries and mail, receive donations, update administrative documentation, monitor office supplies, manage agency email communication
  • Training: Participate in TBM training such as Customer Service, Incident Report Writing, Naloxone, NCI, Trauma-Informed Care, First Aid/CPR, and Fire Safety Certification
  • Incident Reports: Properly complete and submit incident reports as needed, aligned with program performance goals
Requirements:
  • Embraces the organization's Statement of Faith
  • 2 years customer service, administrative assistant, or reception; will consider training or internship of TBM alumni.
  • Previous experience working with individuals challenged by homelessness, mental health issues, or substance abuse
  • Flexible, motivated team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to maintain good boundaries and de-escalate conflict
  • High School Diploma plus relevant employment experience with focus on administrative tasks
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
Preferred:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bilingual: Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin
