DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Cancer Center Clinic Operations Manager, the Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for various clerical and administrative duties in support of daily patient services within all clinical areas. The scope encompasses greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling for various Cancer Services clinics.

The Front Desk Coordinator conducts registration, insurance, and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, appointment arrival, audit billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, answering multi-line incoming calls, scanning of all incoming medical records, and working closely with Cancer Center physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments. Other related duties are assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Three (3) years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.

* Prior scheduling experience.

* Proven knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.

* Experience with patient check-in/check-out and cash handling.

* Demonstrated experience with insurances and authorizations.

* Knowledge of appointment scheduling systems, preferably Epic.

* Microsoft applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.

* Possess strong computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.

* Must have excellent customer service skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Epic-Cadence experience.

* Medical terminology.

* Outpatient oncology experience.

* Experience in a large, complex healthcare setting.

* Bilingual in Spanish/English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

* Work locations focused in Vista and Encinitas but includes Murrieta, Rancho Bernardo, La Jolla, Hillcrest, and Kearny Mesa locations as needed. Occasional weekend/holiday coverage. Occasional overtime.

* Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

* Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
