Job Title: Front Desk Sample TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Sample Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will connect with customers, take requests, answer phones, and schedule shipments. This role involves entering data, maintaining records, handling samples, and ensuring all pertinent information concerning testing, reporting, and billing is accurately entered into the computer system as per applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Sample Technician will also be responsible for generating reports, assembling samples for analysis, and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
Responsibilities- Connect with customers, take requests, answer phones, and schedule shipments.
- Enter data and maintain records.
- Receive samples for analysis and enter all pertinent information concerning testing, reporting, and billing of samples in the computer system per applicable SOPs.
- Properly handle and distribute samples for testing.
- Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, such as the Quality Manual and SOPs.
- Handle samples according to instructions received from clients.
- Operate standard office equipment including computers and copiers.
- Work interactively with the technical staff to help ensure that clients' expectations are met with regards to testing, reporting, and invoicing.
- Generate reports for daily department sample schedules, shipping lists for samples to be sent to other laboratory locations for testing, and other required information.
- Assemble samples to be prepared for analyses and samples to be delivered to other laboratory locations for testing; maintain records of the samples shipped to other laboratories.
- Maintain neat and accurate records.
- Maintain files of information received with samples.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Communicate clearly orally and in writing to co-workers.
- Ensure proficient typing ability, accuracy, and speed.
Essential Skills- Knowledge of SOPs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Experience in laboratory and environmental sampling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Associate's Degree in science preferred, or equivalent.
- High School Diploma required.
Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with rare occasions requiring additional hours to ensure everything is shipped out for the day. The company offers a growing, family-owned culture and feel, and training will be provided by the lab director.
