Position Summary: This position is responsible for greeting and checking in patients for scheduled office visits. Obtaining and verifying the necessary documentation, paper and electronic for the visit from the patient. Checking out patients at the conclusion of the visit. Collecting patient payments, scheduling follow-up visits, posting charges and all other duties as assigned. Reports To: Front Office Coordinator Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for greeting and checking patients in for appointments, assuring a positive, friendly and timely experience. 2. Greet non-patients and assist them with questions or concerns. 3. Notify management and providers of non-patient visitors. 4. Assure patient insurance and demographic information is accurate and current. 5. Request patients/patient's representative to complete any required paperwork per practice policies and procedures. 6. Review patient charts prior to scheduled visits, review for required information, prepare necessary paperwork. 7. Ask for copies of insurance card and photo ID at every visit and copy per practice policy and procedure. 8. Assist patients with completion of required documentation as needed. 9. Ensure the waiting room area is clean and well maintained. 10. Provide coverage for all front office functions. 11. Responsible for checking patients out in a timely, professional, and friendly manner. 12. Collect co-payments and deductibles. 13. Record payments and provide patients with a receipt. 14. Schedule follow up visits. 15. Input and balance daily charges per practice policy and procedures. 16. Back up to scheduling 17. Scanning 18. May be required to travel to other locations if coverage is needed. 19. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Experience with practice management scheduling and charge posting software. Must be able to use 10-key calculator to calculate patient responsibility balances. Basic knowledge of Word and Excel spreadsheets. A general understanding of group health coverage and patient responsibility calculations. Must be a self-starter with a positive, service-oriented attitude. Education: High school Diploma or GED Experience: At least two years of directly related experience Working Conditions: OSHA Category 3: Involves no regular exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue or tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissue are not a condition of employment.
