Summary The Slotting Specialist will be responsible for managing the slotting of dry goods and temperature-sensitive products within the grocery distribution center. This role involves optimizing slot locations to improve efficiency, reduce congestion, and ensure product accuracy. The Slotting Specialist will collaborate with various teams to address slotting issues, maintain open slot capacity, and implement large-scale slotting initiatives. They will also lead project teams in rolling out slot moves both within WMS and carrying out the physical moves.
Responsibilities Slotting Management and Optimization - Review twice a week + as needed: Slot new item locations based on category, expected movement, height, and weight.
- Weekly: Manage forceouts and location information. Communicate plans and gather feedback from Operations.
- Weekly: Maintain discontinued slots.
- As Needed: Work with inventory and project teams to improve slotting through large-scale initiatives.
Operational Collaboration - Daily: Work with operations on current issues and feedback they receive.
- Biweekly: Walk aisles looking for cases next to each other in the same packaging to address accuracy issues in shipping.
Review and Analysis - Quarterly: Conduct high-level reviews of replenishment levels and amounts with the engineer to reduce replenishments and hauled pallets.
- Quarterly: Review movement by aisle to reduce congestion from replenishments and selectors stopping at multiple slots to grab multiple cases.
Safety and Compliance - Quarterly: Meet quarterly with safety teams and as needed to review ergonomics and reduce lifting heavy SKUs high on stacks, addressing safety concerns.
- Quarterly: Meet quarterly with food safety teams and as needed to ensure compliance with organic and other requirements.
Capacity Management - Maintain open slot capacity throughout the warehouses and layout to ensure efficient use of space.
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, preferably in slotting or a related role.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
