DescriptionSUMMARY: Operates truck with GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more to transport goods/materials to and from specified destinations in safe and efficient manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives tractor-trailer truck to assigned destinations to pick up and deliver goods/materials to assigned in-state and out-of-state locations. will be on an out of state rotation flexibility is critical
- Inspects tractor trailer before and after each trip; records and submits report indicating truck condition. Notifies dispatcher ASAP of any serious mechanical problems.
- Loads and unloads cargo as needed; assist locations with this process as needed.
- Operates fork lift or electric pallet jack in a safe manner (after training/certification).
- Ensures product/material is secured properly compliant with safety requirements
- Maintain DOT log books and required bills of lading, according to I.C.C. Regulations; including cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel expenditure
- Fills up on fuel, cleans truck, and washes windows as needed. Maintains truck and associated equipment in clean and good working order.
- Follows all applicable traffic laws; monitor road conditions and watches for traffic congestion.
- Reports to dispatcher/manager any incidents on the road immediately.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Plan most efficient routes using maps or satellite tracking.
- Communicate as needed with dispatcher, other drivers and customers by means of wireless
- devices and/or on-board computers.
- As directed, oversees/monitors temporary labor help at salvage operations.
- Assist with loss prevention efforts, including alerting LP staff as soon as possible of customer/employee theft, tag switching, etc. and of any unsafe conditions including slips, trips, and falls.
