The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has developed standards of excellence that the district applies to all parts of the organization inclusive of schools, principals, school leadership teams, networks, and central office. Alignment between Standards of Excellence (SoE) and the district's Theory of Action helps ensure that principals are able to focus on scholar achievement and that central office supports are timely and effective.

THE OPPORTUNITY: Reports To: SergeantHourly Rate: $ 17.53/hrContract Days: 200/260 Union: (O.P.B.A) Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent AssociationFLSA Status: NonexemptThe Security Officer performs all duties and responsibilities associated with ensuring the safety of all building staff including submitting written safety and incident reports as required by Safety and Security management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confers with principal, staff, and students for the purpose of increasing communication and inter-racial understanding
- Observes and reports any potential problems in and around the building
- Develops methods to prevent intrusion into a school building by outside unauthorized persons
- Assists in protecting the rights of individuals and the safety of school property
- Assists in the supervision of pupil movement and of priority areas before, during and after school
- Submits written safety and incident reports as required by Safety and Security Management
- Man and monitor magnetometers & X-Ray machines to control access and detect contraband
- May also process employee identification by using Pride ID System
- May also process employee criminal background checks
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in related school or urban safety and security procedures
- Individual with mature judgment
- Ability to relate to individuals in conflict situations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of persons of all ages within the school system
- OPOTC, 120 hours, private police certification, preferred but not required
- Will be provided 40 hours Mandatory CMSD annual training
- Must meet departmental physical requirement standards
- Familiar with Pride ID System is preferred
