Position Overview:

QinetiQ US is seeking a skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to support clients within the Department of Transportation to develop written and visual concepts that communicate ideas and inspire and inform the DOT mission. This is a fully remote role.

Responsibilities:

QinetiQ US is looking for a Strategic Communications Specialist who can also write communications, website postings, and short articles. Key responsibilities are:

  • Participate in client meetings and work with senior team members to define communications requirements and present graphical concepts
  • Write short articles and communications for review by federal team lead
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and deliver communications on policy changes, procedures, and other IT requirements
  • Enhance change management efforts and communications by providing graphically pleasing communications
  • Provide graphic visual representations of information to enhance written materials, including emails and blog posts, and to present information quickly and clearly.
  • Write and edit documents and web postings which conform to plain language guidelines and are section 508 compliant.
  • Design icons, animations, banners, and various types of attractive graphic products for print; digital and web/Internet for review by senior team members
  • Design infographics, flowcharts, and diagrams in coordination with senior graphic designers to convey complex IT and cybersecurity information
  • Design and edit professional white paper products in Adobe InDesign in coordination with senior graphic designers and subject matter experts
  • Work with senior graphic designers to enhance branding within agency guidelines
  • Develop graphics for use in PowerPoint slides, large-format posters, newsletters, etc.
  • Technologies include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat DC, Premier Pro, and After Effects, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, and Drupal
  • Propose new communications channels
  • Working understanding of AI in graphic design
  • Able to both take direction and think outside the box
Required Qualifications:

Requires:

  • 3-5 years of experience, federal agency experience preferred but not required
  • Visual portfolio, as well as at least two professional writing samples
  • Excellent graphic design, written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • The ability to obtain Public Trust clearance is mandatory
  • Ability to change priorities quickly and deliver on time with evolving deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • federal agency experience preferred
