Position Overview:

Oakey's Funeral Service is a family owned and operated establishment since 1866. We have 5 chapel locations, 2 crematories and a pet funeral home all within the Roanoke Valley Region.

We are seeking a Funeral Director with leadership potential to join our compassionate team. The right candidate will be committed to providing exceptional service to families while having the opportunity to grow and develop their career. This position offers a balanced workload, with our funeral directors averaging 120 families served annually, allowing for a healthy work/life balance. We offer upward mobility and opportunities for leadership development for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities:

* Coordinate and manage all aspects of funeral services, including transportation, preparation and necessary documentation.

* Meet with families to arrange and personalize funeral services with care, professionalism and respect.

* Handle administrative duties, including filing permits, death certificates and other required paperwork.

* Provide grief support to families, offering comfort and guidance through challenging times.

* Lead and oversee funeral service operations, ensuring seamless service delivery and satisfaction.

* Maintain strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management across all funeral arrangements.

* Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, as well as company policies.

* Work as part of a cohesive team, contributing to the overall success of Oakey's Funeral Service.

Qualifications:

* Licensed Funeral Director with valid credentials.

* Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in funeral service (preferred).

* Strong leadership abilities with a desire to grow within the company.

* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

* Empathetic and professional demeanor, especially when working with grieving families.

* Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and on-call shifts as needed.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and funeral home arrangement software.

Compensation and Benefits:

* Starting salary of $60,000 commensurate with experience.
