FURNACE OPERATOR - REMELT SOURCES INCORPORATED : Job Details

General Duties:

• Safety
  • Follow strict guidelines in a demanding environment
  • Be able to work in a high heat environment for long periods of time
  • Have impeccable awareness of the surroundings and process
  • Maintain a safe and good working condition of the induction furnaces
  • Housekeeping- sweeping dust, cleaning, organizing materials, removing trash and similar duties to ensure a safe working environment
  • Continuously look for ways to improve safety
• Operate Induction Furnaces
  • Follow production scheduling to determine which furnace will be operated
  • Full understanding of how to charge an induction furnace and operate by work procedures
  • Melt scrap and/or virgin content to produce various alloys
  • Take temperatures and samples from molten bath
  • Patch spout/top cap/furnace when needed
  • Tap heat out of the furnace when tap temp is achieved
  • Always know the condition of the furnace(s) you are operating
  • Have knowledge of all trim additions stored on the melt deck
• Operate Main Hot Metal Crane and Auxiliary Hot Metal Hoist
  • Practice until competent (months) on the use of the Main Hot Metal Crane system and then be approved for solo operation.
  • Use the cranes when pushing out working linings, loading items on the melt deck, and removing furnace bodies when necessary
  • Perform safety and PM checks on the crane and related accessories (hoists, chains, hooks, etc) as required by procedure
• Push Out and Rebuild Induction Furnaces
  • Hook up and use a ram to push out working lining of induction furnaces
  • Inspect grout and key components of the furnace body
  • Install Monolithic lining by work procedure
  • Use pneumatic tools to ram top cap and shoulders
  • Hand load break-in heat
  • Sinter Cycle understand importance of and follow procedure
