This is a working Lead position which reports directly to the Galley Project Manager. This position requires rigid compliance with written government contract standards in accordance with the Performance Work Statement. The Lead will also assist the food service crew in all the food service required activities at the Admiral Nimitz Galley.Pay & Benefits$21.04/HourExcellent benefits package:Health & Welfare benefit ($4.93/Hour) pays for health insurance after 60 days of employment. RequirementsAbility to pass NAS Whidbey Island Background check at time of hire and for duration of employment. Felonies will prohibit base access.Must be able to pass and show proof of negative TB (Tuberculin) skin test prior to the commencement of work paid by New Leaf, Inc.Must be able to obtain and maintain Food Service Workers Card.Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesIn the absence of the Project Manager and/or Supervisors, the Lead will oversee the daily workflow of the Galley contract.Oversees crew members. Be familiar with and compliance with written government contract standards in accordance with the Performance Work Statement.Be familiar with and adhere to the companys safety and emergency procedures and personnel policies and be responsible for the safety and health of crew members.Be conscious of and adhere to the mission of New Leaf: To promote independence and quality of life through employment.Adhere to the personnel policies of New Leaf as specified in the Employee Handbook.Adheres to strict government security rules, regulations and policies.Maintain required records including timecards, productivity evaluations and necessary daily logs/reports/charts. Submit documentation of same to proper administrative personnel in a timely manner.Maintain professionalism, respect for others and fairness always.Schedule shifts to ensure adequate service and adjust schedules when necessary.Responsible for various reports- i.e., schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, various employee documentations, correct timekeeping, and accident reports.Report all quality control complaints/problems/information to the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Director of Operations, using appropriate forms. Initiate solutions to same.Ensure on-the-job training and orientation is completed for all new employees.Actively looking for ways to help people.Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.Set performance pace for the crew and serve as a role model for production.Manage ones own time and the time of their crew.Manage all food-service activities throughout each shift.Requires dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people.Ensure all areas are clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly and maintain a functional environment.Ensure that QC inspections are corrected on time and followed up on.Is responsible for the quality of work, outcomes and results.Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or corrective action.Conduct supply and equipment inventory.Participate with Human Resources staff as appropriate, in the development and monitoring of individual evaluations and/or training programs.Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences as required.Duties/ResponsibilitiesDuties/ResponsibilitiesPrepare reports on activity, personnel, and information such as occupancy, hours worked, facility usage, and work performed.Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency.Assist with the coordination and training of the crew in carrying out and completing scheduled jobs safely and correctly, including use of applicable supplies and equipment.Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers and dismissals.Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.Serving Line:Set up, dish up, clean grills, steam tables, handle hot and cold boxes, sinks and fryers.Vegetable Prep:Pre-service, use of knives to cut and sort fruit and vegetables, set-up, re-supply and clean up.Beverage Bar Service:Pre-service set up, dish up, and replenish beverage dispensers during meals.Dishwashing:Clean during and after meal service, carts, counters, tables, dishwashing machine.Pot & Pan Area:Clean before, during, and after meal service - pots, pans, utensils, racks.Dining Room:After the meal, table clean up service, condiments containers, napkin holders. Physical Requirements and Essential FunctionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This position requires the ability to do repetitive movements, standing, walking, bending or twisting, lifting, scrubbing, kneeling and reaching.The ability to endure up to 8 hours a day of standing and walking.Requires using hands to handle or control food service-related materials and supplies.Ability to move, lift, handle or carry up the 40lbs. / push and pull up to 50lbs.
