Position Title:Gate AttendantTime Type:Full timePosition Summary and Qualifications:The Gate Attendant position is an integral part of Public Safety operations on the Hawk Hill campus. At all times, pedestrians entering and leaving parking lot areas must be monitored.Note: Gate Attendants may assigned to a designated shift (first, second or third). Gate Attendants are a full-time, 9-month position.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- The Gate Attendants is required to stand at the entrance of the parking lot, in a conspicuous position, greeting and engaging all that enter their area of responsibility
- Gate Attendants must familiar themselves with all current University parking regulations.
- Gate Attendants will be issued hand-held radios and will report any observed violations to the Public Safety dispatcher.
- This person is responsible for reporting any and all suspicious activity to the Public Safety Security Officer and/or Public Safety Shift Manager
- Gate Attendants will write parking citations and apply parking boots to vehicles for parking violations.
Secondary Responsibilities- Maintain a current list of vehicles on the Department of Public Safety Boot & Tow list.
- Notify the Public Safety dispatcher when any vehicle on the list is observed in your area of assignment.
- Provide information to all students and visitors that you come in contact with.
Minimum Qualifications (Education / Training and Experience Required- This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as a minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Must have the ability to interact professionally with the public, and upon request, direct visitors to specific sites on campus.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in the English Language, read and write instructions, reports, and other work-related information in legible handwriting.
- Must have sound judgment, patience, courtesy, and dependability in attendance.
- Successful background check clearance under Saint Joseph's University's Minors on Campus Policy (PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting check, and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check)
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours- Must be able to stand outdoors in all types of weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to stay awake and alert for the entirety of the shift.
- May on occasion be required to work an extended shift during special events, i.e. move-in, move-out, and commencement.
