General Laborer - Emmett Construction : Job Details

Emmett Construction Inc. is searching for a hard-working, dedicated, motivated, honest laborer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various tasks to support the daily operations of multiple projects.

The laborer is responsible for conducting various tasks to support owner and other workers on construction sites. Their tasks range from delivering the materials and equipment necessary to complete projects on time to executing projects alongside owner and at other times on their own with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
• Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site
• Handle and transport materials (e.g. cement) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)
• Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
• Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods)
• Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
• Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding)
• Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions

Requirements and skills

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.)
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
• Communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safety rules
• Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessary

Valid CA Drivers License required.

Highly desirable qualities include:- punctuality- work ethic + good attitude- proactive / self motivated- communicates / asks questions / willing and ready to learn

Must be able to operate construction hand tools and other specialized equipment safely, efficiently and effectively.

There will be a probationary period of 30-90 days dependent upon references.
