Primary Purpose:Installs maintain, and repair locks, key systems, and door hardware for specified operating components.Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the district. Assist with maintenance of grounds.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDClear and valid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to follow verbal and written instructionsKnowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair proceduresAbility to communicate effectively (verbally)Ability to operate hand and power toolsAbility to work independentlyExperience:3-year experience in general building maintenanceMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Locksmith Duties
Interprets Master Keying Guides; uses appropriate discretion and special knowledge of lock systems.Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices.Install and repairs door hardware and hydraulic closing fixtures.Disassembles locks; and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification.Issues keys and maintains records of keys issued and returned.Maintains records of work performed.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains both mechanical locking and electronic key card systems.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedMaintenance and RepairAssist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman.Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.SafetyFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.Other:All other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Maintenance and Director of Facilities and Operations.Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or vanPosture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent drivingLifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basisEnvironment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travelMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
