Job Summary Provide custodial services as assigned for academic programs, maintenance, and other college departments. Specific Duties Include: General cleaning, as assigned, including vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, windows, etc. Responsible for checking and maintaining supplies in all restrooms and emptying trash, as needed Responsible to collect items in recycling containers in offices Responsible for special projects during summer and breaks including stripping, waxing, scrubbing carpets, etc. Assist in snow removal Responsible to perform assigned role in emergency situations
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of: Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment. Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely. Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs. Ability to: Follow simple oral and written instructions. Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction. Keep simple records. NOTICE: In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 2 years related work experience. Experience in operating various custodial and grounds equipment (including forklift and snow removal equipment). Boiler operator's license. Knowledge of basic emergency procedures. Communication skills needed to report status of building security and repairs to supervisor.
Other Requirements Move and/or transport items weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis Frequently bend, lift, and maneuver items daily
