Job Summary
Reporting to the President/CEO of Muskogee Technology/PCI Manufacturing, the General Manager is responsible for all management and oversight for services pertaining to the needs of PCI Manufacturing operations for the manufacturing of goods and products. This role is responsible for the day-to-day activity performed by the Machine Shop, Small Fabrication, and Heavy Fabrication departments while meeting price point, maximizing cost effectiveness, optimizing machine up-time and staff assignment, and sustaining process improvement measures involved with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices. Ensures the necessary practices and procedures are developed, implemented, and maintained in order to sustain and advance the goals and objectives of PCI Manufacturing operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves an Executive Team Member role as a direct report to the President/CEO to effectively establish, sustain, and promote a safe, fair, resolute, and productive manufacturing work environment free of partiality, favor, bias, neglect, or unprofessional conduct with clear focus on positive influence, selflessness, enthusiasm, and professional development.
- Responsible for the development of clear policies, procedures, actions, and processes to keep PCI Manufacturing operations in a sound, stable and balanced market, including researching, writing, and adopting procedures to continuously assess daily manufacturing conditions, variables, and standards.
- Responsible for the oversight and management of PCI Manufacturing operations to meet production contract delivery requirements by developing, implementing, and sustaining necessary programs, services, functions, and activities for manufacturing operations and supporting services.
- Works directly with Sales/Estimating/Business Development for technical assistance and quote routing signature approval.
- Works in direct correlation with the Purchasing/Materials Manager, Planning/Engineering, and S/R Team Leader to coordinate and forecast raw material purchases necessary to manage all processes related to establishing raw material trend usages.
- Works in direct correlation with the Purchasing/Materials Manager, Planning/Engineering, and S/R Team Leader to help control all aspects of material flow and to maintain accuracy over all inventory related to manufacturing.
- Understand and interpret the complexities of applicable statutes and regulations necessary to produce and secure parts and components manufactured for the Department of Defense and Aerospace industries.
- Direct and facilitate the analysis of complex problems and develop proactive solutions relative to PCI Manufacturing operations.
- Responsible to ensure that manufacturing resources, machinery, and equipment are adequately appropriated and assigned to maximize effectiveness, optimize machine production, and continuously improve performance by seeking opportunities and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
- Select, train, and evaluate direct reports and associated staff to correct deficiencies.
- Responsible for promoting and sustaining a positive workforce culture which drives performance-based standards in an effort to continuously advance manufacturing operations which are necessary to sustain financial stability and secure long-term employment.
- Direct, develop, coordinate, and review work plans and contracts, meet with staff to identify and resolve problems, assign work activities and projects necessary to perform overall objectives, monitor workflow and forecast needs of manufacturing operations and supporting services, and review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures on a consistent basis.
- Responsible for the management and oversight necessary to maintain and continuously improve product quality by completing periodic product, company, system, compliance, and inventory audits.
- Thoroughly and promptly investigate customer complaints related to manufacturing operations.
- Responsible for the continuous monitoring of manufacturing operations with use of real time data and analytics necessary to make proactive adjustments to schedules, resources, and staffing essential to optimize performance and meet or exceed customer contract deliverables.
- Develop and administer the budget for all manufacturing operations and supporting services, forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies, direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures as defined by the President/CEO of Muskogee Technology/PCI Manufacturing and recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to the President/CEO of Muskogee Technology/PCI Manufacturing regarding all elements of manufacturing operations and supporting services, and functions.
- Researches and establishes procedures for maintaining high manufacturing standards of quality, excellence, reliability, and safety that are in-line with PCI Manufacturing's goals and objectives.
- Creates and participates in client presentations as needed.
- Works collectively with the Director of Support Services to ensure preventative maintenance practices in accordance with real company needs, up to date with current regulations, and in accordance with minimal standards for scheduled equipment testing and OEM maintenance standards for all PCI Manufacturing assets are performed and recorded.
- Responsible to frequently evaluate policies and procedures in relation to manufacturing operations and supporting services, functions, and initiatives.
- Directly responsible for the management and supervision of manufacturing operations over multiple shifts of operations spanning weekdays, weeknights, weekend days, and weekend nights.
- Works in team environment and communicates effectively with co-workers at all levels of the company and within the framework of the quality management system to maximize productivity.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the President/CEO of Muskogee Technology/PCI Manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or closely related field required.
- Five (5) years verifiable related employment experience in manufacturing and/or quality systems management at the ISO 9000, AS9100, or NADCAP level required. Experience in document control and recording of engineered drawings, and financial management related to the aerospace manufacturing industry preferred.
- Four (4) year's verifiable related employment experience in a professional setting with duties related to match supply and demand capabilities and requirements, lean processing procedures,risk management, risk controls, trending analysis and methodologies, and strategic budgeting required.
- Two (2) years' experience in maintaining a supply chain material requirements planning (MRP) accounting system required and four (4) year's preferred.
- Certificate in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; must be able to communicate with employees, the general public, vendors and customers, and all levels of management, while maintaining keen focus on professionalism, kindness, civility, and respect.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers at all levels of the company and within the framework of a quality management system.
- Must have working knowledge of computers with ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, and PPT with an advanced skillset and demonstrated ability to develop cost analysis reports, financial-related subject matter reports such as inventory audits, and material value assessments.
- Program Management Institute or similar PMI or PMP certificate preferred.
- Must possess a high level of maturity, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced business atmosphere.
- Excellent written and verbal communication problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to establish, encourage and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Able to convert manufacturing processing plans into action; provide implementation of planned processing.
- Able to provide, communicate and implement ideas that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost in part processing
- Must be able to complete and maintain appropriate reports.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, and processes used in manufacturing.
- Ability to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
- Must be well organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to coordinate various projects.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the management level Ecke Personnel Policies and Procedures.
- May be required to undergo a standard background check along with verification of education requirements.
