General Managers manage the restaurant on a day-to-day basis. Their focus is on both the front of house and back of house operations, which consist of managing the brand, ensuring service meets the brand, managing inventories, and controlling costs as it relates to product and labor to ensure budgets are met. Additionally, the senior manager is responsible for creating a workplace environment that fosters Din Tai Fung's core values of Smile, Synergy, Modesty, Integrity, Learning, and Excellence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Arriving to work on time to set a positive example for employeesAttending Front of House and Back of House Daily Camera MeetingsManaging the Front of House and Back of House Management TeamEnsuring restaurant is staffed and set up for business ensuring not to exceed labor budgetChecking all server sections and kitchen departments for preparednessEnsuring opening/closing, Daily Check Lists are completedEnsuring restaurant is clean outside and inside of any debrisMonitoring the inventory process and ensuring the accuracy of inventoryEnsuring server stations are stocked with product and suppliesAble to communicate in a manner that achieves positive resultsCompleting schedules and posting by date establishedPerforming interview process and hiring qualified staffEnsuring that all staff complete the appropriate paperwork correctlyDisciplining and encouraging employees when necessaryProviding training in all facets of the Front of House and Back of House operationsCompleting documentation accurately and in a timely mannerAchieving budgeted sales and profit by managing costs and effectively running the restaurantManaging costsOpening and closing the restaurant(s)Reading, understanding, following, and enforcing the Employee Handbook, Training Guide, and Specific Departmental Standard Operating Procedures Manual including POS operations.Ensuring compliance with licensing and hygiene, health, and safety legislationFamiliar with all products provided on menusAssisting staff when necessary in a positive and encouraging mannerSYSTEMS:
Responsible for timely inventory counts in accordance with the established scheduleEnsures orders are made accurately (accurate pars, correct nightly inventory counts)Manages the ordering of office supplies to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintainedBuilds and maintains positive relationships with vendors and sales representatives to ensure that the restaurant receives the best possible products and servicesManages the budget FOH restaurant's budgetAnalyzes monthly financial results and annual budgets to assess and improve profitabilityAssists with the implementation and administration of the approved financial budget, and ensures that budget goals are metPlan, coordinate, and oversee the catering and banquet process, including serviceManage the POS system to ensure that it is functioning properly and that all transactions are recorded accuratelyManage cash handling procedures and sales reports to ensure that they are in compliance with company policyMonitor and adhere to control systems to minimize the risk of theftFollow all established accounting proceduresJOB REQUIREMENTS FOR GENERAL MANAGER:
