General Manager - Breckendale Flower Farm : Job Details

We are looking for ridiculously passionate people who share our love of plants and are obsessed with the success of our wholesale growing operation. Ideal candidates will show up for work fresh and focused with an enthusiastic attitude and a ridiculous passion for learning.

This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position that requires varying hours depending on time of season. The spring growing season will require overtime hours. Flexibility in scheduling and weekend availability required.

Production

• Oversee all aspects of annual crop culture and growing procedures
• Execute cultural practices including fertilization, IPM, and PGR applications
• Develop new techniques or methods for growing high quality plant material
• Obtain and maintain a Commercial Pesticide License
• Receiving and shipping
• Maintain clean and tidy work areas

Facilities

• Oversee Facilities Manager
• Propose yearly facilities budget for general maintenance and improvements
• Coordinate truck deliveries of plants, supplies, and hard goods
• Maintain current and valid Driver's License

Management

• Scheduling
• Payroll
• Light accounting
• Budgeting
• Accounts receivable, accounts payable

Knowledge and SkillsBackground in horticulture is a plus, but not required. Management experience is preferred along with a strong desire to learn.

Physical requirementsThis is a physical job that requires you to be on your feet for the duration of your shift. Must have the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, bending, reaching, walking, pushing and pulling carts, handling and sorting of materials. Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. repetitively. Must be able to tolerate hot and humid conditions in the greenhouse and various weather conditions outside. Must hydrate as needed.
