JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: General Manager

Position: Full-Time

Location: Union City, California

Reports to: VP of Operations

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Manages the overall manufacturing effort as well as profit and loss of the facility through the coordination and management of manufacturing, tooling, human resources, quality assurance, finance, and continuous improvement for the location in support of the overall company objectives. May participate in the development of functional strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains P&L and B/S responsibility for the site
  • Directs the overall operations of the facility and all departments within
  • Establish sound strategies and tactics aimed towards continued quality, safety, cost improvement and OTD (on-time delivery) of products
  • Ensure that price structure for produced parts are within expected gross margin levels
  • Oversees management review of quality systems and encourages a lean operation by driving continuous improvement, proactive management and teamwork
  • Ensure that the facility is properly staffed and trained
  • Represents facility to potential customers, and clients, and at corporate meetings
  • Financial decision maker regarding orders accepted, purchase of equipment, tools, materials, and staffing
  • Bears overall responsibility for housekeeping of the facility and safety awareness
  • Communicates plant financial & operational conditions to Corporate
  • Manage the operations cost to enhance profitability while staying within legal guidelines and company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the strategy and long-term planning of the operations to ensure continued success in meeting customer expectations
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of medical device and or component contract manufacturing with an emphasis on plastics processing and manufacturing
  • Keen knowledge of GMP, ISO standards (13485) and QMS (quality management systems).
  • Experienced in using the following software packages: IQMS, Epicor, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Project
  • Ability to build and leverage partnerships, implement change and manage projects
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry
  • Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable the company's business goals and objectives with the ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets
  • Strong financial and analytical ability with proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint
  • Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes
  • Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and managing continuous productivity and cost reduction programs
  • Strong and convincing communication skills both verbal and written

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, or a combination of education, experience and/or training
  • Minimum 6-10 years experience in an operations leadership role with direct P&L responsibility, in contract manufacturing and plastic injection molding
  • Previous experience with price structuring and job costing
