SummaryWe are seeking a strategic and results-driven General Manager to direct the overall operations of our carrier manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, enabling them to analyze operational metrics, develop manufacturing practices focused on continuous improvement, and collaborate across various departments to achieve organizational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Direct and coordinate activities of the manufacturing plant to obtain optimum productivity and economy of operations while enhancing financial performance.
- Set and implement procedures that enhance productivity and cost efficiency within the plant, while developing and deploying manufacturing practices that emphasize quality and continuous improvement.
- Make customer-focused decisions to maintain strong relationships with distributors, suppliers, and customers.
- Lead and oversee change management initiatives within the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption by effectively communicating changes, engaging stakeholders, and providing support throughout the process.
- Mentor and prepare team members for increased responsibilities by identifying and nurturing their potential, ensuring a strong succession plan is in place to effectively fill key roles, including that of the General Manager, when necessary.
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive plant safety and security programs, to guarantee adherence to OSHA and other regulatory standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.
- Coordinate activities with manufacturing, production control, purchasing, planning, maintenance, and quality control to optimize production and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, customer service, finance, engineering, and human resources, to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilize operational metrics to analyze productivity, set performance targets, and achieve production goals.
- Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of organizational policies and goals.
- Review activity, operating, and sales reports to determine necessary changes in programs or operations, assist in preparing directives for senior management, and identify causes of nonconformity and implement corrective actions.
- Develop budget and cost controls and obtain data on product specifications and delivery dates.
- Consult with engineering personnel on modifications to machines and equipment to enhance production quality and efficiency.
- Serve as the point of escalation for employee relations issues that cannot be resolved by production supervision or management.
- Ensure compliance with City, County, State, and Federal requirements.
Leadership Responsibilities Oversees 3 subordinate managers who manage 14 supervisors who supervise approximately 315 employees in the Production, Purchasing, Materials, and Manufacturing Services Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/ or Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of related experience, with at least 5 years in a management position within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven success in a leadership role with a strong emphasis on business acumen and operational efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
