GENERAL MANAGER/STATION DIRECTOR - Delaware Public Media : Job Details

Delaware Public Media (DPM) is seeking a dynamic and visionary General Manager/Station Director to lead their growing statewide public media operation. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated and resourceful leader to manage the organization's overall operations. The General Manager/Station Director will oversee programming, production, marketing, listener engagement, and business operations. They will manage the nonprofit budget, build relationships with key community leaders, lead fundraising efforts, and maintain DPM's standing as the go-to source for local news and NPR programming. Working alongside a dedicated team of 11, the selected candidate will guide the station's creative direction and lead growth and development initiatives. This includes expanding signal coverage, producing fund drives, enhancing digital presence, and ensuring financial sustainability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead day-to-day operations including programming, technical services, underwriting, marketing, social media, engagement, and financesOversee programming growth, brand positioning, and content strategySupervise team including Operations Manager, Advancement Director, and News DirectorFoster relationships with NPR, CPB, FCC, and other partnersManage fiscal health, budget, and revenue goalsProvide board leadership and ensure mission alignmentAdvocate for ethical journalism, inclusivity, and community engagement SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated leadership experience in broadcast or nonprofit sectorStrategic thinking and consensus-building abilityTrack record in nonprofit budgeting, fundraising, and strategic planningDeep understanding of public media's community roleExecutive-level communication skillsCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field, with 5+ years senior management experienceSuccess in nonprofit media budgeting, fundraising, and team managementKnowledge of public media programming, technology, and fiscal landscapeAbility to execute organizational vision reflecting Delaware's diverse needs COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary range: $65,000-$79,000 annually, based on experience.
