OBJECTIVE: The General Manager for the Building Supply Division is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, strategy, and growth of the Building Supply division. This role will focus on building strong customer and vendor relationships while driving sales both internally within the company and externally with clients. The General Manager will lead a team, develop business strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, and maximize revenue and profit for the division. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Building Supply division, aligned with company goals.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales and operations professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal division performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, identifying opportunities to increase sales and deliver exceptional service.
- Oversee the internal sales strategy, working closely with other departments to drive cross-functional sales initiatives.
- Engage with external clients to expand market share, negotiate contracts, and close high-value deals.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor relationships, ensuring reliable product availability and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate terms with vendors to secure favorable agreements and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, gathering feedback to improve products and services.
- Oversee the division's budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance, aiming to meet or exceed revenue and profitability targets.
- Implement effective inventory management practices to balance supply and demand, reduce waste, and control costs.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards across the division.
- Review vendor quotes for appropriate scope and pricing, work with Accounting for accurate reporting and record keeping
- Resolve vendor and client issues proactively
- Generate external sales for SCS Building Supply
- Guide vendor onboarding and network optimization
- Provide data analytics and reporting to leadership team
- Provide timely and cordial interaction with supportive work groups such as Accounting, Operations, and purchasing, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
- Must have valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Construction, or related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Will accept combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
- 7+ years of experience in a leadership role within the building supply, construction, or similar industry.
- Extensive knowledge of market rates and costs of construction materials
- Strong track record of success in sales, customer relationship management, and vendor negotiations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop business strategies, and drive results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing/accounting software
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong critical thinking and negotiating skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to work 40 - 50 hours per week during normal business hours Monday - Friday. Supplier visits and occasional travel required with this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The majority of this position is in a professional office setting, working with purchasing teams and all levels of Company personnel.
