Marquette Board of Light and Power *seeks a * Generation Specialist to join their team in Marquette, MI. As a Generation Specialist, you will be responsible for the operation and minor maintenance of the Marquette Energy Center and other generating facilities during your assigned shift. You will ensure generation assets are operated to meet set standards of efficiency, productivity, and safety.WHAT WE OFFER.Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience.Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.Defined contribution retirement plan with company contribution.Paid time off.WHAT YOU WILL DO.This is a shift work position; therefore, you are responsible for these tasks during your assigned shift.Support the safe operation and maintenance of reciprocating engines and associated balance of all generating facilities/equipment.Safely operate the generating facilities and preclude the creation or cause of any hazard to the safe operation of the facility.Monitor the condition of the generating facilities using the engine control and emission control systems.Perform physical checks of the plant's equipment and systems.Perform operational duties at the hydros and Combustion Turbine.Work with maintenance, electrical, and instrumentation personnel on tasks pertaining to generating operations.Create equipment work requests.Review routine operating data and inform the Shift Supervisor regularly as to the general status of plant equipment.Promptly inform the Shift Supervisor of any unexplained changes in one or more plant process variables or instrument readings and report any equipment malfunctions that may affect the safety, reliability, or load capability of the unit.Implement Company and plant training programs and ensure continued progress in the programs by shift personnel.Perform various operational basic maintenance-related duties including preventative replacement of filters, gasket, lubricating oil, etc.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.Associate level certificate in Industrial Technology or other technical field preferred. Training certificate and power plant or industrial work experience will be considered.2+ years of power plant experience required.Must have the ability to complete the BLP Operations Qualification Training within six months of hire required.Knowledgeable in of all facets of power plant operations.Must possess a valid driver's license.Able to make sound decisions in potentially stressful, quick-changing conditions.Proficient in Microsoft Office software.Must be able to work a physically demanding job including standing, walking, bending, twisting, lifting and carrying up to 90 lbs., crouching, finger use, coordination, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.ABOUT US*Marquette Board of Light and Power * is located in Marquette, Michigan and services up to 17,000 accounts.
