POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Geologist is responsible for ensuring that ore control activities align with daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans by providing accurate and timely Geo-Mining-Metallurgical information on geological resources. This role requires strict adherence to internal SOPs, industry best practices, and regulatory standards to support the safety of the workforce and contractors at Pinto Valley Mine.
The Geologist is also tasked with continuously updating the block model and other geological models by capturing geological data from open-pit operations and determining material destinations, ensuring the ore control Block Model remains current.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure all employees and contractors are working in compliance with all Pinto Valley Mine and MSHA safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
* Ensure that all employees and contractors are certified to execute the tasks/jobs they are assigned.
* Capture of geological data from open pit operations and definition of material destinations.
* Management and advanced level control of acQuire database.
* Vulcan and Leapfrog Short-Term 3D Geological Modeling
* Keep updated and ensure the quality of the mine's geological information through geological mapping of pit and production advancement.
* Schedule and implement sampling, logging, and QAQC of blast hole samples.
* Estimate and deliver ore control model.
* Manage ROM and other stockpiles for reliable and effective ore delivery.
* Coordinate with dispatch to ensure reliable ore delivery.
* Generate daily, weekly, and monthly models.
* Coordinate the logistics of the area with Operations and Planning and Reconciliations of the monthly, weekly, and daily plans compliance.
* Review monthly, weekly, and daily plans.
* Responsible for but not limited to all tasks/duties assigned or required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
* Understanding of open pit mining operations and mine plan sequence including drill pattern design.
* Understanding of modeling and estimation in a copper porphyry ore deposit or similar.
* Robust knowledge and understanding regarding QA/QC and sampling procedures.
* Knowledge of safety and standard operating sampling procedures.
* Knowledge of MSHA requirements and regulatory standards
* Prior experience in a copper ore porphyry deposit strongly preferred.
Key Competencies / Skills
* Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related discipline
* At least three years of surface mining experience in a production environment - copper porphyry experience preferred.
* Experience with mineral specific software packages (Vulcan, Leapfrog etc.)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook)
* Strong project management skills
* Valid Arizona Driver's License
* Able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
50% of the Geologist's time will be spent in the field while the remaining 50% will be spent in an office environment.
