Job SummaryCalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in geology. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects. Exposure to various plants and mine sites.Compensation$19.50-$26.00/hr DOE Responsibilities

• Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
• Carry-out and practice all safety training and Company policies
• Assist with all aspects of economic geology and land issues
• Mapping, mine planning, mineral exploration, permitting, research of government land issues, and environmental geology
• Provide help, designing and budgeting for projects at multiple plant locations
• Additional work with other engineering disciplines
• Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
• Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
• Perform plant tasks as assigned

EducationCurrently pursuing a bachelor's degree in GeologyRequirements/Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Good attendance and punctual
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Must possess valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles

Preferred:

• Experience with equipment management software
• Basic knowledge of CAD or GIS
• Ability to hike up to 5 miles in desert summer conditions
• Prior experience or internship in construction or building materials industry
