ANTICIPATED OPENING

Work Year: Season Starts: December 1, 2024

Season Ends: February 21, 2025

Salary: $5,000.00

Statement of Duties:

* Promote by example loyalty, leadership, dedication, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, cooperation and personal responsibility.

* Focus on building a strong culture aligned with core values for the gymnastics program in the highly competitive Merrimack Valley Conference.

* Implements codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents of the HHS gymnastics team.

* Ability to work the expected hours to include arriving prior to the student athlete arrival and departure times.

* Recruits, interviews, recommends to the Athletic Director the Assistant Coaches for all levels of the gymnastics program.

* Maintains a thorough knowledge of game and competition rules and has the ability to educate all coaches and student-athletes to share in that understanding, including the rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).

* Develops appropriate training programs and practice sessions.

* Ensure the proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms are adhered to in conjunction with the Athletic Director.

* Travels with student-athletes on the team bus both to and from meets.

* Demonstrates knowledge of strategies and rules of gymnastics.

* Adheres to all financial policies of the district in the regards to the collection, disbursement of money, expenses and receipts.

* Works with the athletic trainer(s) and completes injury reports for any student injured within 24 hours even if the athlete does not see a physician.

* Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork and required team and individual statistics in a specified time and manner.

* Works with the Athletic Department staff to ensure the proper forms including physical, attendance, parent consent and medical information is collected prior to the start of the season.

* Enforces the policies and procedures of the Haverhill School Committee and the Haverhill High School Student Handbook.

* Supervises appropriate behavior of students from arrival to departure, both on and off the field, including the locker room, buses, practices, and at home and away games.

* Maintains a safe environment and facilities for all student athletes at all times.

* Attends the annual HHS Head Coach meeting.

* Attends the annual HHS all Coaches meeting.

* Reviews the HHS Coaches Handbook annually.

* Reviews and signs the Massachusetts Anti-Hazing Law Form annually.

* Demonstrated commitment to protect student athletes from inappropriate conduct.

* Proven ability to enforce all rules in all sport-related activities and venues.

* Assists athletes and/or their parents in the selection of college or workforce opportunities.

* Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects and procedures pertinent to gymnastics including rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).

* Proven ability to work in a professional and friendly manner with various contingencies; i.e. students, teachers, parents, administrators, boosters, media, officials and the school community and public.

* Reports to the Athletic Director and Haverhill High School Principal any disciplinary issues immediately.

* Performs other duties as requested by the Athletic Director, Principal and the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

* Proven ability to advocate the importance of education and school community.

* Successful previous experience on a gymnastics team or as a coach.

* Valid Driver's License - required

* First Aid/CPR - required

* MIAA Coaches Certification - preferred
