Lead high performing application development teams including but not limited to design, development, and testing of new systems and enhancements to existing systems. Regularly interact with the business and IT leaders to plan and deliver solutions that meet the business need and support enterprise architecture. Ensure proper coding standards, documentation and testing are completed and accurate for each project.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely delivery of application development projects for a development team
  • Oversee the plan, analysis, development, testing and control of new systems and enhancements to existing systems
  • Provide hands on leadership and have both a general and detailed knowledge of the system the team supports
  • Be able to interact, analyze and understand the needs of the customers
  • Ability to manage multiple requests efficiently and work with delivery manager to schedule the release for implementation of projects
  • Day to day production support to maximize system availability and diagnose issues for resolution
  • Work with Application Delivery Manager to define priorities and allocate resources
  • Report progress status of the projects to the Application Delivery Manager as well as customers
  • Act as a consultant to programming staff and business units to mentor staff in all phases of the project development, testing and implementation process
  • Evaluate project requests to determine feasibility and appropriate department resourcing for on-schedule completion
  • Participate in staff development including hiring, coaching, evaluating performance and disciplinary action
  • Work with team members and subject matter experts to produce requirements and design documents
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by adhering to good practices and habits
  • Excellent system documentation skills

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience and education

Experience:

7 years of experience navigating the full software development lifecycle: design, development, and delivery.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities successfully.

Strong background in GIS technologies and leadership, with expertise in tools like Esri and ArcGIS (but not limited to).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
