We have an immediate need for a hands-on Glass Crystal Maker to join our Houston-based team.

Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 230 team members in Houston Texas and 115 in Shanghai China. Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land.

This individual will report directly to the Director of Chemistry.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Summary

This position fulfills internal & external customers' orders in a timely manner, ensures all guidelines are followed, supports the work of the manager, and assists team members and other areas when scheduled and workload permits. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure effective and efficient production in the lab while completing work orders with a high degree of accuracy.

Essential Functions

· Always adhere to Alpha's CORE VALUES when executing an action.

· Accurately prepare raw materials in powdered form, following the formulas and standard operating procedures with balances and planetary mixers.

· Operate and maintain tabletop furnaces and high-temperature laboratory ovens for melting powders into molten glass, following standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

· Pour converted molten glass into established forms and allow to cool to room temperate to make glass crystals, following standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

· While in an air-conditioned setting, the candidate must feel comfortable measuring and mixing chemical powders using proprietary recipes as well as operating high-temperature equipment.

· The incumbent should also feel comfortable and be willing and able to wear the proper company-supplied personal protective equipment (PPE) to follow all safety measures while performing such duties.

· Maintain finished goods inventory accuracy within our MRP (Material Resource Planning) system through accurate and timely transactions.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

· Perform other duties as required and assigned; duties and activities may change over time.

Physical Demands

For certain work tasks, the employee is required to wear PPE such as lab coat, safety glasses, face mask, respirators, heat-resistant face shield, heat resistant gloves, and/or heat resistant arm protection. The employee is required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Experience

· High school diploma or GED preferred

· Previous glassshop experience preferred but not required

· Must be able to pay attention to details and operate with a high level of precision

· Basic computer skills including Microsoft basics (Outlook, Word, Excel)

· Must be comfortable dealing with numbers and basic math

· Must be comfortable handling chemicals, especially in the powder form, while following safety guidelines

· Must be comfortable handling high-temperature equipment while following safety guidelines

· Must be comfortable to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds

· Must be comfortable working and conversing with diverse team members

· Must be conversant in English for safe and effective performance of the job, Bilingual in Chinese or Vietnamese preferred

· Occasional overtime to meet business needs

· Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
