Job DetailsJob LocationGolf Course - Cocoa Beach, FLEducation Level2 Year DegreeDescriptionGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIESUnder general supervision, performs supervisory, clerical and customer service work in the Pro Shop at the City golf course. Work involves overseeing and participating in collecting fees and providing general information and assistance to Pro Shop patrons and the general public. Employee is responsible for receiving and responding to inquiries in person or via telephone, and receiving fees and/or payment for merchandise. Employee is also responsible for monitoring the condition of the merchandise in the shop and performing a variety of clerical functions associated with Pro Shop operations, such as preparing cash receipts and associated records. Work also involves scheduling and supervising Cashiers and the course Rec Aides, Rangers and Starters, assisting in selection of merchandise for re-sale, and maintaining stock on shop shelves. Develops and oversees the golf instruction program. Reports to the Golf Course Manager. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssigns, directs, and supervises activities of subordinate Cashiers, Rec Aides, Rangers, and Starters, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards; assists and advises subordinates, as necessary, resolving problems as non-routine situations arise; ensures staff members receive necessary training for assigned positions.Administer or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc., submitting such records and reports as required.Assists Pro Shop patrons at counter, determining and receiving proper payment for green fees, cart rental fees, merchandise, etc., and providing correct change and/or receipts; operates cash register, ensuring proper accounting of money collected and availability of cash to make proper change.Answers incoming telephone calls and answers questions regarding course conditions, green fees and other routine matters, or refers callers to proper personnel. Assist the Golf Manager with the development and execution of general and seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies. Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the Golf Shop.Presents a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories in line with customer demands. Maintain levels or product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through the Golf Shop.Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives. Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors.Analyzes sales and studies trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns, and clearance sales.Assists in unpacking, checking and recording incoming goods, comparing contents of packages with packing slips and invoices, affixes price tags.Monitors safeguarding of inventory and assets to reduce loss from theft pilferage defective/damaged goods returns and markdowns. Provides golf instruction through lessons and clinics.Works with outside tournament liaisons, General Manager and F&B Manager to deliver the highest level of service for all tournaments. Oversees scoring of tournaments and schedules staffing needs for both in house and out. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONSMay unlock and/or secure building at start and end of work day, retrieving keys from Police Department; sets up cash register with money from safe; starts up computer; obtains course condition information from appropriate maintenance personnelPerforms other related work as required.QualificationsMINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEAssociate degree, and 1 to 2 years of experience in retail work preferably in the Golf Industry; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Three to five years in a leadership role. PGA Member preferred or actively working inside the PGA program.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIREDPhysical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including typewriters, cash registers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to subordinates or assistants. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of forms, checks, schedules, reports, invoices, etc. Requires the ability to prepare receipts, records, reports, invoices, etc., using prescribed formats. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control and confidence.Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English and golf terminology.Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using automated office equipment, cash registers etc.Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, cash registers, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Requires the ability to communicate via telephone.
