POSITION: Sport Management, Business, and Hospitality Internship

SEASONAL: Approximately May 15 - August 15 (could continue to work into the fall months around school schedule, if possible)

REPORTS TO: PGA Head Golf Professional, Jason Ballard

OAK HILL COUNTRY CLUB

Private 36-hole country club located in Rochester, NY. Oak Hill CC was founded in 1901. Oak Hill CC has hosted the following major championships; Ryder Cup (1995), PGA Championship (1980, 2003, 2013, 2023), Senior PGA Championship (2008, 2019), U.S. Open (1956, 1968, 1989), U.S. Senior Open (1984), and U.S. Amateur (1949, 1998). Oak Hill CC will host the upcoming 2027 U.S. Amateur.

EMPLOYMENT DESCRIPTION

SMBH interns will be required to do a variety of jobs and tasks that will vary on any given day, primarily in outside operations. Member service and hospitality are the focus point every day regardless of assigned role. Oak Hill's goal is to create a golf experience that exceeds our member's and guest's expectations while adhering to the vision of the golf department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assisting Head Golf Professional in all areas of daily golf department management

* Brand ambassador welcoming members and guests to the Club upon arrival at the bag drop

* Assisting Supervisors in operating the bag room, golf cart fleet, and practice tee

* Assisting the Director of Play in assuring groups arrive to the first tee on time with proper pace of play

* Assisting the Director of Retail in all areas of merchandising

* Assisting the Tournament Director in all areas of managing events

* Playing golf with members and guests

* All other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

* Currently enrolled Sport Management, Business, or Hospitality student

* Golf knowledge preferred but not required

* Golf playing ability preferred but not required

* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

* Efficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and six days per week

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

* Complies with Oak Hill Country Club's Acorns of Excellence

* Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and dressed in accordance with Oak Hill Country Club's appearance standards

* Exceptional attention to detail

* Anticipate guest and contact needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to concerns and requests

* Exceptional communication abilities when interacting with associates, guests, clients and internal departments to build relationships

* Able to consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision

* Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers

* Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, night, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts

* Must have a valid driver's license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours

* Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and perform strenuous work lifting

* Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift

* All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards

* Will be required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements

* Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts

* Must be 18 years of age
