Key Responsibilities

The Director of Government Affairs will establish and lead BPI's government relations function in Washington, D.C., serving as the primary interface between BPI and policymakers across Congress and the Executive Branch.

  • Lead BPI's government affairs strategy and execution
  • Support execution of BPI's flagship Bitcoin Policy Summit (choosing speakers, managing content etc.)
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze policy developments affecting Bitcoin and digital assets
  • Conduct frequent educational meetings with Hill staff and Members of Congress
  • Build and maintain relationships with key Congressional offices, Executive Branch officials, and regulatory staff
  • Coordinate with Communications team, Research team, and BPI Fellows to develop policy positions and briefing materials for lawmakers and their staffs
  • Organize and execute Senate/House staff briefings
  • Attend / watch relevant Congressional hearings related to Bitcoin
  • Work with events team to organize networking events and happy hours

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of government affairs experience, preferably in financial services or technology
  • Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes (required)
  • Established relationships on Capitol Hill and/or within regulatory agencies (required)
  • Experience working with both Democratic and Republican offices (strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and financial technology (required)
  • Experience with CRM tools
  • Based in Washington, D.C. or willing to relocate (required)
