Job Overview The DAO's External Engagement & Government Affairs Division is seeking a Government Affairs Liaison to develop and manage the division's engagement, constituent services and programmatic strategies in partnership with the offices and staff of city and state elected officials. The Government Affairs Liaison will support the External Engagement & Government Affairs Division's mission and operations by building bridges between the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and our government partners to include by not limited to: Philadelphia City Council, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, PA State Senate (Philadelphia Delegation) and federal partners.The Government Affairs Liaison will maintain a strong and continuous presence in neighborhoods, community townhalls/meetings, law enforcement meetings, Philadelphia City Council sessions/committee meetings, PA State Legislative sessions/meetings and Advocacy Group Meetings for Survivors of Crime and Mass Incarceration.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Government Affairs Liaison is responsible for proactively developing, implementing, and managing intergovernmental relationships, programming, and events to positively impact public safety, reform and community transformation strategies led by the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office in collaborations with our external partners. This includes facilitating, connecting, and collaborating with local law enforcement, community-based groups, faith-based organizations neighborhood schools, and other community institutions. The Government Affairs Liaison will coordinate monthly briefings for elected officials and their staff from city, state and federal offices. The Government Affairs Liaison will attend, speak, and present on behalf of the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office at community events, townhalls and other related gatherings.
Experience and Qualifications - All qualified applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three or more years' experience working in government relations, public relations, community engagement or related experience.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License & willing to travel within Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania for government affairs meetings and activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse groups of people, including executives, managers, team members, and external partners.
- Strong desire and ability to communicate, relate, and work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and conduct presentations and training sessions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and manage conflict.
- Ability to think and plan strategically.
- Available to attend and represent the DAO at events and engagements on evenings & weekends.
- Possess necessary and adequate transportation to travel to community events & programs.
