Position Title:Graduate Assistant - International Programs OfficeJob Description:Under the supervision of the Director of International Programs, the Graduate Assistant for International Programs is responsible for providing comprehensive student feedback and marketing support for all study abroad programs. Graduate Assistants enrolled in 36-39 credit graduate programs will receive 12 credits of tuition remission annually, Graduate Assistants enrolled in graduate programs with 40 or more required credits will receive 18 credits of tuition remission annually. Note that graduate assistantship tuition remission does not increase with the addition of certificates. The award amounts are based on the graduate degree only.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete Research on MSMU Students: One of the primary goals of this position is to develop research tools for collecting data on MSMU students in terms of their beliefs, misconceptions, interests, and obstacles vis--vis studying abroad. The graduate student for international programs should also be able to do a basic analysis of the data. We are especially interested in which undergraduate students are not studying abroad and why they are not.
  • Maintain Records: The Graduate Assistant for International Programs will maintain records of these research tools, and the analyzed data we establish on MSMU students.
  • Conduct Campus Outreach: The Graduate Assistant will also work with the Director, Associate Director, Administrative Assistant for International Programs, and the Communications Office to reach out to the campus community via email, events, social media, or other materials (flyers, TV promos, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Trip Leaders: The Graduate Assistant will work with faculty trip leaders and their Administrative Assistants to gather information needed for and the creation of marketing materials.
  • The Foreign Studies Advisory Committee (FSAC): The Graduate Assistant for International Programs will sit in on the Foreign Studies Advisory Committee (FSAC) meetings via zoom and take meeting minutes for the group when possible. The Graduate Assistant for International Programs will be a non-voting member of the committee.
  • Campus Events: The Graduate Assistant for International Programs will work with Admissions, Marketing and Communications, and Orientation Staff to improve the representation of Study Abroad at campus events, especially Admissions Events, and Orientation.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Must be accepted into a graduate program at Mount St. Mary's University.
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Knowledge of and experience with using survey software.
  • Knowledge of and experience with basic data analysis (means, modes, crosstabs)
  • Knowledge of and experience with creating content for social media, and other forms of marketing.
  • Multicultural competencies: ability to work with diverse populations. Must be respectful to all and committed to diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and accessibility.
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for representing study abroad.
Salary/Hours/Benefits
  • A stipend of $6000 per academic year.
  • 20 hours per week for 9 months (August - May)
  • Tuition Remission Benefits (2 courses in the fall and 2 courses in the spring).
