Job Description Summary Position Summary InformationThe Wellness Center offers free resources, wellness opportunities, sexual violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, and health education to Marshall University students. The Center's goal is to help students achieve wellness through the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits and choices.The Wellness Center Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Wellness Center Coordinator. The Wellness Center includes the Wellness Program Coordinator, Violence Prevention and Response Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, and Student Volunteers. All staff members collaborate to facilitate education, awareness, networking, and advocacy services for the campus community. The primary focus of this position will be health education.Job DescriptionThis position is an education-focused role that entails working collaboratively with the Women's & Gender Center, Violence Prevention & Response Program, and Wellness Center. This Graduate Assistant should be comfortable developing and facilitating in-person and virtual educational programming and should enjoy working in a student-focused team environment.• Provide a welcoming, professional staff presence in the Wellness Center during regular office hours; provide student assistance and respond to requests; and provide advocacy support and resource referrals as needed.• Enhance the Center's social media outreach on a variety of platforms.• Assist with the development of print and electronic materials for health promotion.• Assist with the development and delivery of educational programming to residence halls, student organizations, and university employees regarding sexual health, mental health concerns, substance use, suicide prevention, sexual violence & interpersonal violence, and other public health issues.• Assist with gathering input from students using focus groups and other evaluation processes.• Assist with organizing and implementing events throughout the year, including wellness awareness and prevention months, Flu and STI Clinics, among others.• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for Center programming and outreach.• Assist with the assessment and evaluation of Center programs and services through Qualtrics.• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.Department Health Education Programs - MU3522 Location MU - Marshall University Semester Fall Semester, Spring Semester Hours Per Week Full Time (20 hrs a week)Qualifications Required Qualifications Education
- Eligible applicants must be enrolled as full-time degree-seeking graduate students.
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in prevention and public health issues as well as an openness to working with a diverse student body.
Experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs and social media management platforms.
