Position: Graduate Program Assistant (Educating Character Initiative Grant)Academic Year: 2024-2025Reports to: Vice President of Student AffairsStipend: $5,000 for the 2024-2025 school yearHours: 20 hours per week

Position Overview:Elms College is seeking a Graduate Program Assistant to support various programs associated with the Educating Character Initiative grant, awarded in the Fall 2024. This position will involve working closely with staff and faculty across student affairs and academic departments to ensure the successful implementation of programs related to the grant. The assistant will primarily focus on supporting the First Year Experience and the Ethical Leadership Program, as well as coordinating with faculty involved in the Ethical Leadership Minor and First Year Seminars. The assistant will also support members of the student affairs team in development of student programs and activities involving the grant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff in student affairs and faculty to support and promote programs tied to the Educating Character Initiative grant.
  • Organize and promote student events related to the grant.
  • Assist in creating and administering surveys to gather student feedback on programs and events.
  • Support administrative tasks, including organizing meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records related to the grant's activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of additional grant applications.
  • Generate and update reports on grant activity for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff meetings, activities, and trainings related to student affairs and the grant.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs or other staff.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Interest in student affairs, grant activities, or higher education administration.
    • Proficiency in Google Office programs.
    • Strong written communication skills, particularly in business correspondence.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and faculty.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in student affairs or grant management within higher education.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
