Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, this position is responsible for being a primary point of contact for the campus community at ATU. Primary responsibilities include assisting faculty and staff with the development of external proposals, seeking out funding sources to support the institution, staying current on federal regulations and funding agency guidelines, maintaining internal grant processes and procedures, providing exceptional customer service to faculty and staff during the grant process, supporting research compliance, and assisting with monitoring non-fiscal post-award compliance related to grants and contract proposals duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Grant Coordinator will work in partnership with the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs to:

Interpret funding opportunities and provide support during the pre-award process.

Assist in all facets of searching, matching, researching, preparing and submitting proposals for sponsored opportunities to external funding agencies.

Provide administrative support for research compliance activities.

Work closely with Director of Research and Sponsored Programs to provide oversight in all matters of research and sponsored programs at ATU.

Identify during proposal review any elements requiring additional internal or external approval (export control, foreign involvement, facility renovation, subawards, cost share, IDC waiver, etc.)

Develop and deliver training as needed to university stakeholders on pre-award and compliance topics.

Apply federal and university rules to management of effort allocation for individuals compensated whole or in part from federal awards.

May serve as the primary writer of university grant opportunities when collaboration or faculty sponsorship is not initially available or absent.

In collaboration with the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, provides status reports on all active grant activity to university stakeholders.

Advise on sponsor policies, practices, and procedures.

Requires the incumbent to stay up to date on relevant internal and external communications.

Confirm that necessary approvals for higher risk factors (cost share, IDC waivers, foreign involvement, COI disclosure, etc.) are in place prior to submission. Ensures approvers understand the risk items and obtains approvals or makes changes to mitigate the risk.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor's Degree

3 years related experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong work ethic

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others

High level of computer literacy

Ability to multi-task while completing projects in a timely manner

Excellent customer service skills

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University.

Experience with grants and sponsored programs.

Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe software.

A strong work ethic with the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

A strong aptitude for and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with faculty, staff, partners, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

Experience in higher education

Familiarity with public and private funding sources

Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple organizations on projects

Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grant and/or contract activity, with specific deep understanding of the award proposal processes for multiple sponsoring bodies Be a lifelong learner with a focus on eliminating barriers to progress.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

The majority of work will be done at the ATU - Russellville campus working in an office with other staff. Physical demands are minimal. No hazardous activity is required.

The Grant Coordinator may be required to travel to in-state meetings and regional/national conferences for training.
