Job Description :

Organizational Background

Founded over 50 years ago, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) is a pioneer coalition of over 300 socially responsible investors including faith-based communities, labor unions, foundations, asset managers, and others who leverage their investments to hold corporations accountable for the social and environmental impacts of their operations. Our membership collectively represents over $4 trillion in invested capital.

ICCR members and staff engage hundreds of multinational corporations annually to promote more sustainable and just practices because we believe that, in doing so, companies will secure a better future for their employees, their customers, and their shareholders. We do this through ongoing engagement and dialogue with corporate management on a range of social and environmental issues that impact communities in the U.S. and globally; members also file shareholder proposals, which are publicly presented at companies' shareholder meetings.

Position Summary

ICCR is seeking candidates with research experience and an interest in development to support ICCR's grants program. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Director of Foundation Relations & Membership Strategy to strengthen ICCR's capacity to explore key grant funding opportunities. The Intern will primarily focus on researching grant prospects for ICCR, as well as trends in grant funding relevant to ICCR's work. This internship offers the opportunity to gain experience in development in the non-profit sector, as well as the chance to support the financial sustainability of an organization at the forefront of the shareholder advocacy movement.

The Intern will lead or be involved in the following projects:

    • Research grant funding opportunities and foundations that would be a good fit for ICCR's work. Research will include the use of tools such as Foundation Directory, and will focus on grants and foundations that support investor strategies, corporate engagement, and building sustainable economies, as well as grants and foundations that focus on the issue areas on which ICCR members engage companies, including climate change and environmental justice, worker rights, human rights, health equity, equitable global supply chains, and corporate political responsibility. Research will also include identifying grant funding opportunities and foundations that would be a good fit for the Investor Alliance for Human Rights, a special initiative of ICCR that focuses on the investor responsibility to respect human rights.
    • Research trends in grant funding relevant to the work of ICCR and the Investor Alliance, as described above.
    • Map prospective grants and foundation research onto existing grants and foundation relationships maintained by ICCR and the Investor Alliance, and support the development of strategies and priorities for cultivation and solicitation of funding.
    • Assist with the tracking of data related to ICCR's grants and grant prospects in coordination with the Salesforce Administrator, to help ensure that all grant-related data can be accurately captured in this platform.
    • Present to ICCR and Investor Alliance staff on major findings from grants and foundation research during the internship period.
    • Participate in ICCR staff meetings to better understand ICCR's priorities and strategies.
    • Support any other, related special projects for the grants and development team.

The internship period is approximately 12 weeks, scheduled to run, ideally, from February through May 2025, depending on the start date. Applicants for the internship should be able to commit to 12 hours per week on average, with flexibility (some East Coast business hours required). This position is remote, and the Intern will receive a stipend of $2,880 for the entire period.

Benefits for Intern

The Intern will gain on-the-ground experience in development, grant management, and grant seeking in the non-profit space. This experience will support the exploration and growth of those seeking to develop their skills and build a career in this area.

In addition, the Intern will make an important contribution to the work of an organization that helped to found and continues to shape the corporate social responsibility movement. Where possible, Interns will be given the opportunity to engage with ICCR program staff (such as attending program/staff meetings and conference calls with ICCR members) to gain a better understanding of the issues and the field of corporate social responsibility.
