Habitat for Humanity Chicago (Habitat Chicago) is a nonprofit organization that works to champion healthy neighborhoods by investing in resident priorities, supporting homeownership and building quality homes. We believe in a world where everyone has a decent place to live and we invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to work towards this vision together in our three focus neighborhoods of West Pullman, Greater Grand Crossing, and Austin.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Graphic Designer manages and executes all print and web design projects with the Development team members who support marketing and communications. This position ensures all marketing and communications collateral across the organization follows the Habitat Chicago brand standards and showcases the professionalism and ingenuity of our team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Key Responsibility: Graphic design (70%)
Manage the concepting, design, and execution of marketing and programmatic design projects for the affiliate and both ReStores. This includes, but is not limited to:
- All ReStore Chicago sale and signage needs.
- Habitat Chicago events.
- Construction site branding.
- Homebuyer University promotion and on-demand virtual education platform graphic support.
- Affordable Homeownership Program promotional collateral.
- Community/homeowner outreach and tabling needs.
- Grant and corporate partner needs.
- Fundraising appeal layout.
- Annual report and Holiday cards.
- Volunteer recruitment materials.
- HR recruitment and tabling needs.
- All social media graphics.
- Video graphic support.
Key Responsibility: Asset and project request management (25%)
Manage online system for project requests and design asset organization across the organization.
- Handle all internal and external requests for brand assets.
- When applicable, develop and train staff on design templates and brand standards.
- Maintain up-to-date brand library (maps, graphs, logos, colors, etc.) for organizational use.
- Maintain photo library alongside Digital Marketing Specialist
- Maintain and organize native and final graphic files across all programs and initiatives.
- Hold and maintain relationships with external print vendors.
Key Responsibility: Teamwork (5%)
As a key Development Team member, contribute to our organizational health through enthusiastic collaboration, leadership, and personal integrity.
- Maintain a “team first” outlook, supporting the success of the team and the mission in attitude, ideas, and actions; lead by example and with active, creative input for growing and improving the organization.
- Contribute enthusiastically to all organizational events, helping as necessary with set up/take down, management, networking, various tasks, etc.
- Engage with all members of team, program participants, and core volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Strong typography skills required. Must have a keen eye for leading differences.
- Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite required, especially InDesign and Illustrator
- High level of creativity and innovation with content conceptualization.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, highly organized.
- Must work well under pressure and with changing priorities.
- Enthusiasm for nonprofit marketing & communications work and willingness to proactively seek best practices and new ideas.
- Commitment to problem solving, continuous improvement, curiosity, and personal development.
- Understanding and enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity philosophy and willingness to advocate its mission.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 3-5 years of print and web design experience
- Experience with successful project management and effectively leading design projects from start to finish.
